Ella: Mommy, ang tawag ko sa iyo minsan INAY. Minsan naman Mommy. (Mommy, I will sometimes call you Mother and sometimes Mommy.)

Me: Talaga? (Really?)

Ella: Kay Daddy naman Itay. (For Daddy, it will be father.)

I was smiling because of the thought of being called Inay and Itay. It sounds like she was born before the World War 2. It was formal and to me more endearing but the smile turned into laughter when she continued:

Ella: Si ading naman, tawag ko sa kanya TOL. (For my little brother, I will call him TOL) (TOL - a short term for UTOL which is a Tagalog street language meaning BRO/BROTHER)
