Freddie and his son

We were able to attend the worship service this morning after missing it for several Sundays. We usually go with Manang Inday and Dimple so we can share the taxi fare but today they came later than us. Kuya Freddie came here last Friday to ask if he can ride in the taxi with us. He lives in the next subdivision and worships at a different congregation but since it’s Inter-congregational Fellowship, he and his 6 month-old son has to do a longer trip from here to the church. His wife works during Sundays at GMall so he has to bring his son all by himself to church. Even if she is off during Sundays, I don’t think she will come to worship with him since she was born and raised as Catholic. Kuya Freddie and his baby rides the “killer jeepneys” just to join the service so I was telling him that he needs a sling. I think we can give one as Christmas present. :-) So while we are on our way this morning, Donald and I were telling him that wearing his baby will really make things easier for him and probably he can ride a bike going to church. LOL Even if he was riding his mountain bike every single day going to and from work and even if he has insurance from the leading company offering the best life insurance lead, you can’t let him ride his bike with his unico hijo. Even the most daring person can get very nervous with a baby. :-)

Busy buddies

Ella was very busy with her bike and crafts since we got here from Davao. Donald also made her a swing made of motorcycle tire which became a haven for her (Wish I have taken a photo to show how it looks. Maybe tomorrow I could). She would go on her business alone or sometimes with her friend Charlie although Donald and I don’t like that boy to be here because he would just come when he’s not playing with someone or he just wants food. Often Ella would go home crying because he pretends he doesn’t hear Ella’s call and he is so good at snobbing her. :-( But anyway, he is the best kid in the neighborhood that we could let Ella play with so we got no choice but to let him in.

Sunday fever

Happy Sunday to all! :-) Today’s been great. Donald and I were at the church building early for the worship service while Ella was still in bed. Last night she told us that she isn’t joining because she was sick. She’s a bit feverish and still was when I tried waking her up. I gave her instruction to stay inside the house while we were there and she agreed. But I know she won’t and I am right. In the middle of the bible study, I heard a faint call outside and when I turned to see who’s calling, I saw her mouthing “Mommy, hindi ako makatulog…” (Mommy I cannot sleep). So I went outside and lead her back to the house. I was holding her hand trying not to slip in the muddy path when she said “Mommy, magsimba na lang ako para i-bless ako ni Lord…” (Mommy, I will attend the worship service so the Lord will bless me…) and so I quickly changed her into Sunday dress (without taking a bath). :-( Of course she brushed her teeth and freshen up. Ice cream

The service started earlier than usual today at 7:30am because the Medical Mission was continued after the worship. I had no choice but to take a bath in the neighbor’s well because we are using the chapel’s bathroom and I don’t want to pass by there and get seen by the early birds. I tried sewing the hem line of the communion table’s cloth but messed up with the serging because I accidentally cut it in the wrong measurement. :-(

Dr. Samuel Cariaga delivered the sermon and right after the worship service, the medical services began. It went until 7pm and I was the last patient to get checked. My BP is 150/100 and was given medicine for hypertension and asthma. The team are very quick to set up and are quick to restore too. They had dinner then off they travelled back home 3 hours away from here. Dr. Sam was behind the wheels and surely he is dead tired.

This afternoon, Ella was on her own playing and finding something to eat. Donald caught her buying peddled ice cream which we call here “flavor of the road”. She has this Barbie sling wallet that comes with her backpack where she put the loose coins that she had saved for weeks now. Since she isn’t used to holding money, she hasn’t bought anything from it. Just today. When she saw this ice cream cart infront of the chapel while the check up was going on and I was busy giving out drugs and Donald has his own work too taking pictures.

She was counting her money…I don’t know how she counted it right :-)

then waited…..

and waited for the ice cream man to scoop her some home-made ice cream

She finally held the cup and

got to taste the heavenly flavor. But her looks cannot justify it.

Tried once more and over the moon because she rarely gets the chance to have this kind of ice cream.
