Remember my maternity dress that I wanted to turn into Ella’s Sunday dress? I am not sure if I will have the courage to cut it. Donald said sayang because I paid $25 for it but he said I can do what I want with it because it’s my dress. I am still thinking of the design.

So last Sunday, I found an Ukay-Ukay skirt for $1.5.

I wanted to make a dress for Ella so much because she has outgrown almost all of her dress. So I made her a simple Sunday dress out of it.

Well I didn’t make much changes. I just cut the sides to Ella’s measurement and sewn a zipper. It’s my first time to sew a zipper on and it took me almost forever to figure out how to hide it so it won’t be visible from the outside. I used an ordinary zipper, not the “magic” zipper. I have a magic one here but it’s blue. Then I put a bias-like fabric in the former waist and just sewn a strap. Earlier I tried it on to Ella without the straps yet, she said “Mommy, lagyan mo ng dalawang strips.” (Mommy, you put two strips.) I looked at her and she was pointing on her shoulders. Oh yes my daughter, I will put two straps, not strips. I let her try it after I did the final stitching and she was twirling and beaming. She said I sew better than the seamstress in the neighborhood. Talk about loving your own or she just wanted me to let her ride her bike. Next Sunday I will be buying another skirt for sure.

Why do chores are not so much fun to do? And we can’t go on with everyday life without doing them? Laundry is piling up again and again but am thinking about sewing a dress for Ella instead. Well she has grown taller (can they stop growing for a while?) and all but one dress fits her nicely. I don’t want her wearing jeans to church and buying new dress is not a priority this time. I have this maternity dress that I really love.

I have no decent photo in this dress so here’s a somewhat acceptable one during the Buntis Party last March 8, 2009. What I love in this dress aside from the print and the cut is the neckline and the accent buttons.

If I am not breastfeeding, I can wear it to church since the cut is not that of the old traditional maternity dresses that looks like pillow cases. The preggy fats are not so evident with this cut and you can still wear it after giving birth (only if you are not breastfeeding or you are using breastpump). This is loose on me now. I have shed some pounds after 9 months. I am grateful breastfeeding really helped me shed those extra pounds ‘cos I don’t think I can take safe weight loss pills even it’s the safest. When I was contemplating on making a little dress out of it, I was thinking about the print. Will Ella look like a tiny pregnant but after I have seen a Disney Princess girl’s dress in this print, I have to give it a go. I hope I can turn this to a nice girl’s Sunday dress. Wish me luck!

Eman and I had a short play after the worship service, the come-catch-my-nose that we loved to play with Ella when she was still a baby.

We were so strangely early to be ready for the Sunday worship. Eman, my alarm clock, woke me up at the same time that he does each day. I already prepared my lesson for the kids, made their snacks and ironed our Sunday dresses last night so we are pretty much left without nothing to do than to take a bath. Ella wouldn’t want to wear the dress I picked but I insisted because she will outgrow it tomorrow. hahahahaha! Not really that soon but you know how kids grow so quick like weeds.

Excuse the background. This is where I hold Sunday school and also the place where we hang the laundry to dry. Weather was gloomy yesterday and today so the blankets should stay there. There are only a handful of kids in my class and Eman is the new addition who like Ella, had to wear this pair of baby clothes because he will outgrow it in a few seconds. hahahaha!

I bought that when I was pregnant and I hid it in his dresser thinking it’s still big. During him immunization last Wednesday, I pulled it out and was so surprised that it looks as though it would burst and looks like he can’t wear it next month so I let him wear this again today. I think I will be washing it tomorrow and let him wear it again and again.
