We’re home!

We’re back! Actually we arrived yesterday afternoon but I was too tired to blog. Although I really did miss it, I have yet to straigten the house after being gone for ten days. Ella was teary eyed while we were in the taxi yesterday on our way to the bus terminal. She said she will miss being with her tita’s. She got that from Mamang Eling who cries each time she bids goodbye during her visit in Davao before. She sure do enjoy her vacation. Read more… »

Poor Teddy

For more than a week now we have plenty of rain around here and since it would be sunny after the rain or the other way around, people are getting sick. Poor Teddy Bear, he has come down with flu and Ella won’t bring her to the doctor….she said to the other bear (Teddy’s brother), “Alagaan natin siya. Huwag na tayong pumunta sa doctor kasi sayang lang ang pera. Pagpahingahin na lang natin siya dito sa bahay….” (Let’s take care of him. We won’t be going to the doctor because we will just be wasting our money. We will just let him rest here at home.) I do not know where does she got that idea of wasting money when going to the doctor because I can’t remember that we have said that to her. Maybe too much watching tv? But I can’t say she has poor mothering ability by that statement because you could laugh at how she takes care of Teddy. She wraps him with blankets at night and she puts on bonnet, sweater and pyjamas so he won’t get cold. :-) How I wish Teddy will get well soon because I am hearing her drama for days now. Our drama queen has her script written somewhere in her brain. Read more… »

Oh bummer…

Today is Saturday and as I have already said, I like this day more than any day of the week because it is “market day”. Since we skipped going to the market last week, we planned in going there today to buy fruits and vegetables that I really need.

Yesterday, I was checking my eon account if the $35 I transferred from my paypal account has already been sent but until this morning I still haven’t received it. I was puzzled how come it took so long for the money trasnfer when it usually takes 3 days for the whole process? So I checked my paypal and I was surprised that the $35 is still there waving at me. What a bummer! Read more… »

I am totally loosing energy from all the throwing up spells after eating. Unlike other women who experiences this every morning, I feel sick from noontime until late in the evening after meals or merienda. I am tired of this routine and I am really hoping this will be over real soon because it eats up my energy and I end up just lying in bed. I have not experienced this with my first pregnancy. With Ella I am very much fine and active. Never did I feel very sick like this which makes me say this will be the last. :-)

In between the trips to the bathroom or sink, I lie in bed or sit infront of my pc uploading photos to my flickr and friendster accounts. I actually opened an account in Flickr months ago but I am too lazy to upload some more photos after I did the first batch. But Donald insists on having a Flickr thingie on my blog like what he saw on other blogs. I was telling him I don’t need that here on my page because I am too tired always and could not do the resizing and uploading I am good without it. But he won’t listen so while he did a little laundry, I updated my Flickr and Friendster because I don’t feel like doing the laundry I wanted to satisfy him. Don’t get me wrong, I told him we will do the laundry on Saturday but he decided to start a little load today so he won’t go naked. And he is so kind to include a few pairs of mine and Ella. If I won’t go through the throwing up spells and with having enough resources, I’d be convinced to get pregnant over and over again! Read more… »

Our day went pretty well….with heavy rain just after Ella and Donald came home from school. After Donald walked Ella to school, he was sweet talking me into getting a television set for a good three hours. We both liked watching news and documentaries and Ella just missed her favorite shows and soap opera (yes, you heard it right. Ella is so fond of sopas…one is El Cuerpo) Since we moved from the city, we have not watched tv. Ella have asked us a couple or more times to watch tv in the neighbor’s and we let her just to feed her longingness of the tube. He and Donald went to the appliance store right after Ella’s class but the tv set he was eyeing were all sold. I said maybe next month we could get one. It is good not to have a tube in the house so Ella could not watch those silliness but we are like living on the other planet. We don’t even know there have been war between the military and the MILF in our province and we don’t know there is a typhoon until its tail hits us here. So I am agreeing now to have tv BUT we can only watch news, documentaries and some wholesome shows and Ella’s cd’s.

Shortly after they arrived, hard rain poured like God is washing the earth. It was so cold and I feel like wanting to go sleep all day. We had fried chicken for lunch but I ate just a little. I hate the smell of some foods and I just can’t take the same servings as I used to. I hope the first trimester will end soon so I’d be back on my eating habit.

Surely we did had a good nap even without power. I was wondering what caused the power interruption on Monday. As I said, it is very unsual that they cut power on Saturdays, much more on weekdays. We usually had black outs during Sundays. Good that it rained, it saved me from ranting whole day for sweating profusely and not being able to get a good nap which I really really wanted to have each day of the year.

When we woke up I was craving for banana que and I dropped a hint to Donald that I so wanted some. He went to buy near the National High School which is nearly a mile away. He took a ride I know and the rain has stopped, but I am just so glad that he did not complain. it is really good to be pregnant. ;-)

It was getting dark when Tadiday came from school. I heard her ask Ella where am I and called for me that my “order” has arrived. She saw Donald on the banana que stand and Donald send her the 12 sticks of banana que. It is not so sumptous as I wanted but it fed my fantasy. I wanted big and really riped ones but those are small and not-to-ripe ones. Even it was not the same banana I wanted, Donald’s willingness to go and get me some made it taste more delicious than it ought to be.

After Donald sent the bag of bananas to Tadiday, he walked to the Methodist Church to check what the folks are working on. He said he have seen wires laying low and trees being cut. But there is still no rain when the power went off so it should not be due to falling branches that have cut the wires. He found out that the church members there decided to do some clearings and they accidentally hit some wires among the trees and it took them forever to contact the electric corporation to fix the problem.

It was nearly 6 pm when the power went back, just after I have made a lamp out of salt and cooking oil. When we were still small, Daddy taught us how to make a lamp. I filled an empty coffee glass of salt and then I poured cooking oil enough to soak the salt. I then rolled a cotton on a thin stick which I stuck in the middle of the glass and lit it up. I made lamp in case those dumb people who cut tree branches very professionally cannot let the lineman fix it up before darkness sets in. Tadiday was amazed at how salt and oil could make a lamp and exclaimed “maybe it is science…”. I answered back teasingly, “Maybe it is mathematics…” and I grinned. We are enjoying the lamp and the dancing flame when power went back.

You might be wondering why my monitor was on if we had no power, I took this while I am making this post just to share what this lamp looks like. LOL I remember the Sunday School song…give me oil in my lamp, keep me burning, burning, burning….give me oil in my lamp I pray.

We had a feast tonight. For dinner we had roasted chicken, coke and ice cream. The three of them was happy but I am the most happy with my grilled eggplant dipped in fish paste with vinegar. This is to celebrate for getting paid again from coding.

Lazy day

I am such a lazy bean lately…or should I say more lazy than usual. It was drizzling when Ella woke me up. She asked me to get up and make her breakfast. Thinking that it was still 6am and Tadiday was still around (she usually leaves for school 15 minutes before 7am), I told her to ask Ate Tadiday to make a bowl of cereal. Feeling so lazy and sleepy, I closed my eyes and tried to go back to sleep. Minutes later I heard no sound in the kitchen, I dragged my feet out of the bedroom to see Tadiday’s room is empty and Ella was not in the house. I called her name and looked in the gate. No sign of Ella going out. I opened the back door and there she was in her knitted jacket and boots, sitting infront of the church with umbrella parked on her side. I called her in and prepared her breakfast then I looked in the wall clock and was surprised to see it is 15 minutes going 8 in the morning! Ella’s class will be in about 15 minutes! I woke up Donald who has been up almost the whole night. I decided not to give Ella a bath. I rubbed a wet towel all over her body and dressed her. No uniform today. Friday is their FREE day. She was fussing earlier and was saying she do not want to go to school but I told her she can wear her boots and raincoat to school….and this made her jump out of her seat.

The whole day I spent most of the time in bed tossing about with a book on my hand. It wsa a book I have read a year ago and I loved it so much that I wanted to read it all over again. I hate the feeling of being pregnant…I mean this phase, the 1st trimester where you feel nauseated and tired all the time. I wanted to eat but I do not know what I like. My mind changes from time to time and Donald is going crazy too like I was because he is the one who runs to the market to get peanut, custard cake, ripe mangoes or anything that a crazy pregnant could think of. Yesterday I have not decided what I wanted to eat for lunch when I smelled the neighbor’s roasted pork. We ended up roasting pork too.

Tomorrow is market day again. My favorite day of the week. No class. No need to wake up early and the thought of what I could find in ukay-ukay makes me more excited. We will also buy things we needed for the Meal Fellowship on Sunday. I have to prepare two dishes and I decided to make chopsuey and my favorite sotanghon guisado. I have to stick on vegetables because we will have lechon (roasted pig). And oh I hope I won’t forget to get two bottles of different vitamins for me. My OB prescribed two vitamins that I would take alternately. I need to make the baby healthy because one of my friends has delivered a premature baby and the doctors have to give the baby legal steroids to help develop the lungs.

throw some doughnuts

Today is National Heroes Day. Ella has no class and she was very pleased as she said she doesn’t want to go to school anymore because of the bullies. I cooked Bihon Guisado in the morning and I have to call Donald to help me stir it from the pan. I bought 1 kilo of bean noodles plus the vegetables that goes with it so it is pretty muck packed in the pan leaving no room for me to stir. It was also the birthday of JanJan, Ella’s playmate who turned 4 so I gave most of it to them.

In the afternoon, it was too hot and I feel like I am going to sweat all the fluid in my body. Even the fan could not help! I have slept for only a few minutes during my nap. I am just soooo glad that at 5, the sky turned so gray and it began to drizzle. I decided to check on Cat5e patch cable on the internet.

I feel really pregnant now LOL My tummy is bigger than with my first pregnancy. With Ella, I have climbed a mango tree in my FIL’s farm when I was 7 months pregnant. And we wonder how Ella have fit in my tummy because she turned to be a chubby baby. I crave for donuts but I could not find any decent one in the market. There is one bakery which makes doughnuts but they are so hard that it might leave a black mark on your face when thrown at you. I think I have to revise the old adage: IF AN ENEMY THREW A STONE ON YOU, THROW A DOUGHNUT BACK ON HIM (AND HE WILL SURELY LEARN HIS LESSON)

We are pregnant!!!

It’s seems like lightyears that I wasn’t been here. My internet connection was out since Monday and was up for only a few hours yesterday and out again. I have just did coding for only a few hours and was really dismayed that our base station here in the province had some problems. Glad that finally it was up again and I hope it will be stable so I can make up for the lost time in coding.

Remember when I said Donald was telling me to look in the mirror because I now have some bulges? I am feeling strange and I noticed some changes in my body so I let Donald bought a home pregnancy test and I am positive! Donald and Ella are very excited as it is what they are waiting for. I am two weeks along now and Ella was overly happy. With another member of the family coming, we are hoping we can have more coding hours in OHJ so we can save and pay for our insurance. I came across the NC health insurance and was hoping we have like this here.
