I woke up hearing the monotonous sound of the raindrops. I heard the alarm went off earlier and was still very sleepy to wake up Donald. It’s the first day of the week and Ella is suppose to be at school. I feel guilty sending her off the school in such weather and yet I feel even more guilty of letting her miss another day at school. When Donald told me that the teacher sent a text message earlier informing us that there would be no class until Wednesday because her MIL died, I felt better. Not because of the MIL’s death but because Ella could spend three days at home. It’s been raining endlessly and the neighbor’s are now flooded. Glad that we have higher grounds here because I do not know what to do with floodwater coming inside the house.

Because it is raining, we just lazed around the house. I did some uploading of photos to my friendster. The ones from yesterday’s trip to the pool. I have yet to upload photos taken in Davao and my hometown because my cousin is bugging me about it so she could grab some. Ella just spent the day watching Barney. When Donald went out this morning to pay bills, I asked him to buy me caldereta for lunch. Also some sweet apples (I think it’s now my favorite), cans of milk and a dozen eggs which I made into a leche flan. I don’t know why I am craving for some particular food when I am in my third trimester already.

In the evening, after dinner, Donald and I are lying in bed watching TV while she was silently drawing something in her table. I heard her move something. I think it’s a chair. Then suddenly there was a faint cry. Donald and I rushed to see what’s happening and she emerged from the living room crying. She was cupping her right cheek. I held her close to me and checked where’s hurting. She has some holes on her molars now but she’s pointing to her gums. I think there would be a new tooth coming out next to the last tooth on the right. After scaring us, she made me laugh when she said, “Lord, tanggalin mo ang sakit please….” (Lord, please take the pain away…). I found it so cute because in the middle of the throbbing pain, she still remembers to pray. Not all could do that and I know it because when I get migraine attacks, I get so overwhelmed with pain and just thinking about painkillers and not about the power of prayer. How I wish I have faith as big as Ella. We gave her pain killer (we have a bottle of Ponstan for kids that was bought when she had her first issue with her gums months back) and it did work fast because in a few moments, Ella was up and about thanking God for taking the pain away.

Ella at age 2 has built a strong faith. She prayed every night as if God was infront of her. I didn’t make her memorize a prayer. She just say what she truly feels. Every night she always amazed me at how she prayed like an old woman. She even has the choice of words that she never uses except when talking to God.

Yesterday when we are heading to McDo, we passed by a stall of Smart Bro, so we stopped and inquired about the internet connection process. It took me few minutes to fill up the form. I turned around to see Ella was inside a boutique which sells religious statues, rosaries and the like. When I was done, I called her and held hand towards McDo. Ella said “Mommy, I talked to Jesus in the store….I held his feet and said we are moving and that I am going to receive birthday packages….” I looked at Donald, waited for him to take care on this issue. We were protestants and we don’t have such things as statues but Ella has quite a knowledge that what she had seen was the figure of Christ (for the Catholics). I don’t know where did she get that, she even knew that the woman is Jesus Christ’s mommy. Then I remember that she’d seen this on a house blessing we have attended. There’s an altar and she knelt there and even made the sign of the cross. Since then, we are trying to teach her all the best we can about faith…that we don’t have such things, and she pretty well understood.

When we are in the jeep going home, we are bombarded by questions one after another about Christ, God and Satan…she even asked if heaven’s gate is already closed so Satan could not enter again.
