Last night I said I am not going home yet, that I am not dragging my feet back home and that I really mean it. Forget it. After debating with myself, I gave in and packed our stuffs. Although I really wanted to stay for the weekend, I decided it is best to go home since I am not in the mood to commute. We were ready at 4am, waiting for a text message from Ate Gina. Donald changed Ella’s clothes while she’s sleeping while I do the final packing of stuffs. I already put everything in one corner and waited. After a few moments, Donald went to get a taxi and Cheche (still half-awake) ushered us out of the gate. We didn’t bother waking my sister Crislyn and BIL because like us, they were still up until past midnight because the neighbors at the side are so loud. They were drinking and talking about nonsense stuffs loudly that I wanted to throw a stone over their roof. After their “noise barrage” and before we could finally go to sleep, a neighbor at the back thought that the best time to chop woods is at 2am and so that is what he did. :-( Such crazy neighbors! Our day started early (or should I say it ended late yesterday?) because we are still wide awake at 3am. Donald couldn’t sleep so we chatted for a while and he decided to watch a James Bond movie in the laptop which he found so boring. I, on the other hand, tries to catch sleep by tossing and turning. Everything doesn’t seem to work so I just waited for my eyes to just close by itself which happened at nearly 5am. It was drizzling and gloomy the entire day. I wanted to go out and buy the fabric that I needed to sew a couple of receiving blankets but like thhe previous days, I don’t feel like going out. I plan to do it tomorrow morning but just tonight, we got a message that we will be leaving for Trento tomorrow at 4am. :-( Just when I already had in mind that we are still spending our 6th wedding anniversary on Sunday here in Davao. Day 5

So it’s five days and still counting. After today, there is no need to hurry going home since weekend is coming. I am not just worried about Ella’s school but of the chicken too. Unlike our previous trips, we decided not to leave them at the neighbor’s care because we thought we will just be away for a couple of days. I asked Donald to put enough food and water which he did. He said he put in there more than enough that’ll last for a week. I just hope those darn chicken didn’t ate it all in just one sitting because if they did, by now they are cursing Donald for not telling them they will be orphan for 5 days and maybe 6 or even a week. So we’re here in Davao for 3 days…..and counting. We could have gone home yesterday even when Kuya Bernard and company postponed the trip but I am not riding a bus this time. Maybe the choleric in me is kicking in because I already set in my mind that we are not commuting going here and back there. Don’t get me wrong. I am not “maarte” because I can ride the most rusty bus in the archipelago only that I already had it in mind that we will be travelling straight. No stop-overs to every town’s terminal. I could bear that. The stop-over thing but not now, not tomorrow, not this week. Not when I already had it in mind that we are going home with Kuya Bernard. It was already planned so it is fixed. No more changing or else I declare World War. :-( Read more… »

Ella and Obama

When we  are on trips, I always pack more clothes than we needed. If we plan on a three-day trip, I pack for a six-day trip which annoys Donald sometimes. Can’t blame him because he’s the one who will have to carry everything especially now that I am pregnant. So when he said we’ll be going to Davao, I just packed just enough outfits for a two nights trip which was a big mistake. As expected, we are still here in Davao spending most of my day sleeping, him on the laptop and Ella playing with the kids next door. When Ate Gigi and Kuya Bernard’s secretary said they can’t go back to Trento today because of some important matters that needs to be taken cared for, I wasn’t upset at all. Read more… »

So I finally made it to the clinic this morning with purple toenails. That was an achievement to me (not on the purple nail polish) because even I already set my mind on getting up early, I still find it sooooo hard to do it. I did my nails last night and since Ella has been putting me into account each time she sees me painting my nails as to why I am still not wearing the purple nail polish she gave to me on my birthday, I decided it was time to show her that I am true to my words that I really love the darn color she picked. I should have cared less if it was a darker plum but it wasn’t and it looks as though they were candies on my feet. But anyway, I gave it a go and I am loving it now and the most important of all is that Ella was so happy about it. :-) Read more… »

So I had some bonding moment with my paper bag from Julie’s bakeshop last night. I blame my attack on the sudden changes of the weather. It started to worsen in the evening and Donald was watching me blow on that paper bag with the thought of going to Davao in that instant. We had no hospital in town, only useless clinics that if you wanted to spare your life, then forget about going there. But I assure him I’d be alright in a matter of hours if he could give me a massage. :-) It was a soothing massage but still I feel like running out of air. Glad that we have Vicks vaporub in the house, at least it helped too plus some self-massage that I did after searching the net the pressure points in reflexology for asthma and tender loving care from our family doctor. On furnitures

Donald is more anxious to move than I. I would hear him say over and over again that we should be in Kabacan the soonest time possible….and that is next week  I want Ella to finish Kinder 2 here but with the weather and some “important” reasons why their classes are always cancelled (not to mention their standard) I think I would agree to Donald that Ella will go back to Kinder 2 in June since she will just turn 6 then. I need more time to pack also and sort our things between the stuffs that we should bring and the stuffs to give away. I hope we could order a hardwood furniture at our neighbor’s but I think it’s better to get it from discount furniture stores in Davao. It would really hurt our pocket to spend too much for such and you know me, I love stuffs that are on sale.

Moving

I am overly excited to go to Davao so I could find out the gender of the baby and maybe pick some on sale baby stuffs at the mall so I was sweet talking to Donald about having an ultrasound near the mall. My doctor’s clinic is in the western part of the city and from my BIL’s place, it would take us nearly an hour by taxi to get there. Such a long travel for me considering that by that time, we have just arrived from here after a good three hour bus ride. I was wondering if my doctor has any plans on moving her clinic somewhere near downtown so it would be more convenient for the patients and also so she could get more walk-in clients. Although I presume she might be one of the sought after OB-gyne in the city (because even her clinic is almost over the mountain) she has still so much patients seeing her, getting the best location will be very beneficial for both parties.  Read more… »

What’s with the horses?

I don’t know what’s with the horses that kids would really go oohhh and aahhhs when they see one and would beg, really really beg to ride it. Ella has been dying to have a ride and when I told her that I once experienced it when I was 7 when we went for a vacation at Daddy’s hometown, she’s asking me when she could go there too. When we went to my FIL’s little farm in Bukidnon almost two weeks ago, she saw a brown horse grazing beyond the farm’s fence and she was itching to go near it. If the owner was in sight, I could have asked if Ella could get a short ride just so she would stop ranting about it. Then I remember the Gap farm in Davao City. We’ve been there when Ella was turning two and I ‘ve seen they offer horse back riding to the public. Read more… »
