Manners

I am very disappointed with the employee of 2GO SM branch in Davao City. It was my third time to ship items (since Donald does most of the shipping) and I get more and more disappointed with my every visit there. The lady, who appeared to be the only employee of the shop, doesn’t seem to have any idea on how to handle transactions and inquiries. She doesn’t even address me Ma’am and that is what I hate most when talking to store clerks, security guards, sales ladies/sales men and the like. I believe they ought to address each client with respect may it be a farmer with wearing his old torn clothes or the president of the Philippines on her expensive suit. I am taking into consideration that I am here in Davao City where people speak Cebuano. I don’t expect to hear po and opo, ho and oho but I am very upset with this lady who can’t even answer my questions in a very nice way. She won’t even look me in the eye! Another client who came in to ask for their cargo services just left after she didn’t entertain her well. Like what she did to me, her eyes are pinned on the monitor and her hands on the keyboard. I know I am not the only one on this and I hope the management will take time to investigate because they will loose customers with that kind of customer service that they are providing. After all LBC is just a few steps away.

Meeting new friends

I am not feeling well today. I guess it’s the over-exertion from holding Eman. He is becoming more and more active and when he’s on my lap, he tries to reach for things that he finds interesting. He also have this attitude of making his head fall back when he can’t get what he wanted. Well I am the mother and he can’t get his way. I am giving him a swat on the leg and tell him it’s not good each time he does that. He’s 9 months and he’s not too young for discipline. So there you go, nip it in the bud.

So the whole morning I was feeling sick. Donald gave me a massage and he said what I needed is a joy ride. I don’t want to be called a wet blanket so I agreed. We went to Mintal taking the back road as usual. The afternoon breeze was cold and I somehow felt better. We wanted to eat so we looked around for a resto that serves Pansit Guisado and the like and so we did some kind of a little tour because we are not yet familiar with the place. While we are looking around I told Donald about the fellow blogger, Chikai, who grew up in that place. Last night I scoured her blog for the post she did many months ago when her grandma died. It has photos of their house. I was lucky to have found it last night so I told Donald about it and he was interested in finding it too. I knew the name of the street but we didn’t get around to asking people where it can be found because on our next turn I saw a house that I thought their house (I mean her parent’s house - since she is married and is based in the US now). But the house is not like what I saw in the pictures…..theirs is green and beside it is their grandma’s house. We are slowly moving and as we got near the curb, I saw a very familiar house. Little grandma

I have some sort of ME time while the little guy was having his afternoon nap and Donald and the little girl are off to downtown area to pay bills. They will also pick up a small parcel at the post office. I hope it’s still there because the first notice came last November 6. I think they will discarding (I think bringing home is more appropriate) the parcels if not claimed withing 60 days. We still have until tomorrow to claim it that law is applied. It’s actually for Ella from a friend in the US. I think it is a book. But even it’s only a book, the thought of sending it all the way from where it came from made me really want to go get it. If you live up here in Catalunan Pequeño, you would agree that going downtown (particularly in the Post Office) is not at all easy. Well to me it isn’t since I don’t have something to do near that area. So since Donald will be paying our light bill which is just over the corner, they might as well get it.

Anyway, as I was fixing Ella’s helmet and was reminding her not to sleep (they are riding the motorcycle) and to take good care, he was like a grandma again telling me more DO’s and DONT’S. Not to forget to lock ALL doors and windows, not to let strangers in and not to go out of the house unless it is on fire. This girl can drive me nuts!

An old couple who helped the churches in the Philippines since 1970’s are leaving the country not just for forlough but for good. They were here even before the Martial Law was declared by President Marcos and now they are leaving just after the Martial Law in Maguindanao declared by President Arroyo was revoked. I wish they can stay here forever but they are getting old and they need to spend time the remaining of their lives with their family in the States.

Freddie and his son

We were able to attend the worship service this morning after missing it for several Sundays. We usually go with Manang Inday and Dimple so we can share the taxi fare but today they came later than us. Kuya Freddie came here last Friday to ask if he can ride in the taxi with us. He lives in the next subdivision and worships at a different congregation but since it’s Inter-congregational Fellowship, he and his 6 month-old son has to do a longer trip from here to the church. His wife works during Sundays at GMall so he has to bring his son all by himself to church. Even if she is off during Sundays, I don’t think she will come to worship with him since she was born and raised as Catholic. Kuya Freddie and his baby rides the “killer jeepneys” just to join the service so I was telling him that he needs a sling. I think we can give one as Christmas present. :-) So while we are on our way this morning, Donald and I were telling him that wearing his baby will really make things easier for him and probably he can ride a bike going to church. LOL Even if he was riding his mountain bike every single day going to and from work and even if he has insurance from the leading company offering the best life insurance lead, you can’t let him ride his bike with his unico hijo. Even the most daring person can get very nervous with a baby. :-)

I am so full. We had shrimps, crabs and lechon (roasted pig) for dinner. The neighbor invited us to her son’s birthday and she saw me sewing surrounded with a huge mess. So she said she will just bring food for us but wanting Ella to go there for some games. In just a few moments food was delivered by their househelp and Donald’s eyes are sparkling. hehehehehe. Thankies neighbor! Forgot her name because I seldom go out of the house. ;-)

I am working on an order from a doctor based in Mandaluyong and it’s feeding time again for the little guy. I decided to blog a bit so I wouldn’t be catching up about many things going on here. I do not know if Eman is cutting his second tooth but I guess he is. He was very fussy yesterday. He is down with colds and have some episodes of slight fever. We went out yesterday to do some delivery and that helped a lot in easing his pain. Read more… »

The Little Gossip King

If we have little gate crasher some years ago, we discovered we do have a little gossip king. I like it better than “gossip prince”. :-D

We went out yesterday to meet three clients and boy was it so hard to get them all in one place. One couldn’t leave her booth at the Christmas Bazaar held in Davao Convention and Trade Center so I decided to meet her there. I am just glad that the second client was very understanding and flexible. She and her husband met us there too. All the while we were there, I walk like I see none of those oh so tempting stuffs on display. I wish I had money to get some Sunday dress for the four of us and some toys for the little guy. Ella was very good and didn’t give us headache. After handing the items to them and had some chit chat, we headed to SM to meet the young mom who ordered a baby sling. It was already half past 6 in the evening so we went to eat at the foodcourt. What I like there is the wide variety of food from the food stalls and Eman can have some soup too. Donald was giving me a hint that he doesn’t like there because we didn’t see any high chair there. But we are wrong for I found one and it looked much more cleaner that other fastfoods at the grounds level. Even if it’s new and looked clean, I still sprayed and wiped it clean.

We just came home from my sister Crislyn’s place and glad the little guy has fallen asleep in the taxi. I was very careful not to wake him up while putting him down in his hammock so I can do a little blogging and blog hopping. It was already dark when we left here but it seems we were at my sister’s place for a long time. Donald and I were actually undecided if we should go out. Weather is not good and money is tight but he “ordered” for me to dress the kids at the last minute. We live up here in the mountain (well not really that remote as you think) and going downtown means spending a lot on  taxi fare so we agreed to ride a jeepney. One time Eman and I went to deliver Ms. Alex Hao’s order of cloth diapers. I had the camera with me and while we were inside the taxi, I attempted to take a photo of the jeepney’s thinking I might use it in my blog someday. That afternoon, traffic is nearly bad near the Ateneo de Davao Highschool Campus and you can’t believe I never had one single photo of that thing. What I am trying to impose is that they are really FAST and FURIOUS!

Here is a jeepney……. Read more… »

We finally moved!

I think I am the laziest blogger on the face of the planet but then I am finding some reasons which are valid of course to justify my laziness. I am trying to figure out if I am just overwhelmed with too many stuffs that needs to get done and add to top it all, Eman’s health issues.Yesterday was a Sunday and we all went downtown to attend the service at Uyanguren. But hey, there’s more that you didn’t know! Last Sunday we went back to Trento and packed our stuffs. I did most of the packing since wives cannot rely on the husbands to do it. Yes they can be asked to help and they can do it thrice our speed BUT I would like to spare myself from pulling my hair while unpacking here in our rented place. I am not very OC but I want it organized so it will not be difficult for me. I don’t want to be digging the frying pan in the bag of laundry so I decided I will do it alone. Donald was the one in charge in finding a truck, bathing Eman, buying meals and making the bed so it is just fair. ;-) The neighbors are kind enough to help out too.

Ella was not very sad the day we moved mainly because her bestfriend Charlie and his parents went with us here in Davao. The truck we hired was of the neighbor. The couple asked them to accompany them here in the city so the truck was packed with stuffs and people. We left Trento at 2am that day. Donald and I didn’t slept since it was 10pm when they were done arranging our things in the truck and it was midnight when the last neighbor left. We left bags after bags of clothes, the crazy wall fan, beds, toys and other stuffs to the neighbors. Remember the crazy neighbors that I blogged about before? They are the ones who helped me with all the packing and of course they got most of the stuffs. Ella and Eman did slept for a couple of hours.

So here we are now living in the city. Got to update this blog more often because I don’t want to loose my PR and ops. :-) Also, please check this post sometime later. I will be editing this to insert some happenings that I have not written now since I am in a hurry to meet the deadline and to do the first batch of laundry. See yah!
