Ella’s Nutrition Month Celebration

dsc00095

Since Ella started going to SPED school, my fear of letting her eat her lunch without us has vanished so quickly when Donald explained to me that they have a teacher aide that assists them. Well, Ella can already eat alone. At two, she feeds herself and uses spoon and fork without problem so at 7 she is already pretty used to it. My fear is her going out of the classroom and running around the playground….bumping to another kid and hitting her head hard or getting her knees skinned. But I was also told not to worry about that thing because they are not allowed to get out of the classroom. They have their pillows with them for their nap after they eat lunch. That made me feel comfortable sending her everyday to school.

Then one day she told her Daddy not to accompany her to her classroom. Donald brings her huge school bag inside the campus to their classroom door because it is very heavy for a grade 1. With all her books, notebooks and her snacks, water and lunch on the smaller bag - I won’t let her do the carrying alone. But during the PTA meeting, parents were told that there will be no parents and guardians allowed inside the campus during the morning. We can only enter during the afternoon when the classes ended. At least it is a good training to the children to be independent but I think they should remember that these 1st graders are still so little to be pulling their trolley bags that weighs more than half of their body weight.

Anyhoo, what makes me feel sad again is that during Ella’s Nutrition Month Celebration parents were not allowed to stay. Donald asked if he can take some photos but the teacher told him that it’s an activity exclusively for the students. The teacher told Donald that she will just tag us after she upload photos on Facebook. So the photo above is the only reminder of Ella’s Nutrition Month Celebration in our camera (the picture of an apple serves as her props for their presentation which I missed. hayts!)….and also this one before they left for school that day :

Like a myna

We had a sumptuous dinner at Irene’s place. Donald grilled pork and Irene fixed shrimps in oyster sauce. Nom, nom, nom. :D It was unplanned dinner. Donald and I was talking earlier about how good it is to dine at their back yard because their place is by a cliff and the wind is so relaxing. I asked Irene if it is alright if we bring food there and she excitedly agreed with the idea. Donald was still grilling the pork when it started to drizzle so we ended up eating inside. But it was still fun and we even stayed until almost 11pm watching Malibu Shark Attack.

At home, while I was chatting with Irene in YM (yes we still have too many stuffs to talk about) Ella was showing flash cards to Eman about OPPOSITES. Like long and short, thick and thin etc. I hear her talk in a firm and loud voice, “Pakinggan mo ako Eman, kung hindi wala kang breakfast.” (Listen to me Eman or else you won’t have breakfast.) Umm. well it is past 12 midnight so it is indeed breakfast.

After a while, she was feeding Eman with Cerelac that I fixed earlier.

Ella: O, eto kain ka na para makinig ka ng maayos sa akin mamaya. Kapag di ka makinig, uulit-ulitin ko ito sa iyo palagi. (Here, you eat first so you will listen to me later. If you won’t listen, I will repeat it to you always.)
Me: Ganyan pala ‘yan nak? Kelangan pakainin muna para makining? (Is that what it should be? You need to feed him so he will listen?)
Ella: Opo, parang myna. (Yes, like a myna.)

So she fed her little brother and gave him water then they went back to their lesson. Irene and Richie has a myna bird and she probably learned from them to feed the bird first so it can easily be taught with new words. She is right, not only myna but kids as well need a full stomach to be able to easily comprehend  a lesson.

Anyhoo, I need to get myself into reading more about how to treat acne so I can write a post about it and publish it on my new blog. I want to add another blog or two to PayU2Blog so I will have more moolah for bills.

Samsung is giving away ST500 digital camera for the top 5 entry who has the most likes and comments and they gonna pick two lucky commentators who will get ST500 too! Two monkeys

Still am tired from our trip to our hometown to visit my mother’s (and loved one’s) grave sites for the All Soul’s Day. It was unplanned trip because I already have told everyone we are not coming but last Saturday, I was dropping some hints that I wanted to go. Donald was very sensitive when it comes to going home so I never have to tell to him directly. He even wanted to leave the same day but I have to dome some sewing first and we have to fix some things here in the house before leaving for a short vacation. I thought I left the camera because I can’t find it in my bag. Donald didn’t show any disappointment though but I know he was and I was! we waited for three nearly two hours before all the seats were filled and out of boredom I tried digging in my bag and found it under my clothes. Wohooo!!!! We could have missed taking these shots Read the rest of this entry »

New and improved cloth diapers

I am making cloth diaper again. Not just for Eman but for all the moms and babies around there who wish to experience the magic of cloth diapering. Been going back and forth downtown to get some fabric and I just wish I have the funds to stock up since stores used to carry only one roll of fabric each color (that I learned from the fabric cutter) and if I would need the same fabric, I might not get it again until the supplier will replenish their stock.  For the printed fabric, he said they are not having the same print again when the one roll was gone.Since the fabric I chose to use are pretty much expensive than before and since I am on a limited budget, I must be very careful to chose colors that might not be hard to find. I have some printed ones and I will put it as Limited Edition.

My cloth diapers is absolutely more absorbent and stylish that my first batch so I am pretty thrilled to start my little business. Here’s my New Improved cloth diaper in solid yellow outer lining and powder blue inner lining.

So we bought the last pack of disposables and will be exclusively cloth diapering Eman when I am done making a dozen for him. I gave everything away what I have sewn for him in newborn and small sizes. I made him a medium but I guess he’s already large. I already have put up my online store in multiply and have talked to some friends to help me start making a name. I will obliged my sister Crislyn to blog about it. I also made Ate Arlene agree to gossip about it too in her blogs. So nice of her. I have also posted my handmade burp pads and receiving blankies in my online store and already got some orders which I am thrilled to death. Guess who ordered? My online friends from the US. Look at what Facebook can do!  Then I am also exchanging emails with Ms. Alex Hao, founder of Mommysense Davao (a group of breastfeeding mommies). I wanted to become a member and along with our conversation, I asked her some tips on how to promote my cloth diapers. Guess what? She wanted to buy a sample in newborn size for her to show as demo in her birthing class!!!! She also asked for a quote for a dozen diapers for her son! I don’t know if this is something you will be thrilled about…but to me it is.

VCUG done

The agony was over. After months of worrying what is really wrong with the little man, we brought him to the hospital for his VCUG last Wednesday. Actually it should be last Monday but I don’t think I can manage it because I was too nervous to do it. I already have read all about the procedure even when Dr. Lobo talked to us about doing VCUG as soon as the circumcision is healed. I even mouthed it before the doc had mentioned the word and I am very confident that time that things will be very very easy. Not until we saw the other doc that performed the circumcision. If I may say so…he is one big discouragement to parents (I don’t want to stress it out anymore so as not to create issues here) He opposes Dr. Lobo’s opinions and decisions and when I decided I have enough and it’s time to give up one of them….I dropped him and went to find another urologist.

Photobucket

I was really thankful that I found Dr. Latayan’s blog….we were lead to his clinic and Eman had this test done without much issues. :-) He is writing very helpful articles about his specialty and we encouraged him to monetize it.
The procedure was quick. We actually spent more time in the waiting room and the I am not so sure if the young group there are students or licensed radiologists but they’ve been so nice and entertaining to Eman. When Dr. Latayan arrived, he greeted Eman and we went inside the x-ray room. He was so kind to teach us how to save for the procedure and that is to buy the stuffs needed (dye, gloves etc.) outside the hospital and so that is what we did. We laid Eman on top of the x-ray table with clothes still on while Dr. Latayan prepared the dye and everything. They took one shot before we stripped Eman’s clothes and he started to insert the cathether and filled his bladder with dye. We were asked to wear a colorful vest and skirt that are very heavy! I don’t know what they are made but I guess it has some metals on the small pockets as protection from radiation. I just regret that we didn’t have a camera at hand because we looked so cute in those costume! Picture out Donald and Dr. Latayan wearing a skirt! It’s not really a funny attire but I was just amazed at it. Add to it is the group of young people in the room who ran in line like ducklings going inside the cubicle each time the doc would shout, “shoot!”. They aren’t wearing those awesome costumes so they are running for their lives.

Eman didn’t care while Dr. Latayan was inserting the cathe. He only cried when he peed and he was soaking wet. We have to wait until all the series of x-rays are taken before we can clean him up and dress him so he was not so happy with lying there in his pee. So the idea of it being painful is not all true and I have proven that. So after all the pictures are taken and films are out, Dr. Latayan’s verdict was Eman has no reflux and it was all clear for valves lying along the ureters. Thanks God Eman won’t be needing any surgery. :-) I know this is a long shot again…but please check on rackmount. Have a wonderful day!

Postcard printing

Geez..it’s already the third of the month yet we have not shopped for Mama Ingrid’s birthday present. We should have sent a package yesterday if we want it to be delivered on her doorstep on her birthday. Since it takes two weeks for the package to arrive there if we send it through Philippine Postal Corp., I am contemplating on getting her a present and send it on Monday then send her a postcard that I can get from online postcard printing.I already have one in mind.

Photobucket

I like the design…simple but elegant. The package will come late so I think this postcard will make up for it.

Eman turned 6 months

Yesterday was special because Eman turned 6 months old and it was “Family Day” for Ella. I am becoming lazy in taking pictures of the kids which is bad since Eman is showing more antics than ever and I missed to capture most of that. So to mark this day, I propped him on the bed and started clicking away.

Photobucket

He seemed not so in the mood for photo shoot.

Photobucket

then he started praying or was he counting his little fingers?

Sore

My back is sore….AGAIN….but I do not want to rant on here tonight. How I wish I could experience full body massage again. When we were still in Davao, we used to treat ourselves to a massage parlor. I loved shiatsu than Swedish massage because the latter has more pressure and I just love the feeling. I don’t know why my back is sore again. Was it because of carrying Eman or too much farming? ;-) I hope I can sweet talk Donald to give me back massage tonight, if not then I will just wish I could put my back infront of me so I can massage myself. Now I better grab some more opps so I could save for a Human Touch Massage Chairs that I saw online. It amazingly do the kneading, rolling, compression and percussion techniques like that of the professionals. I think it’s the greatest invention that one with back problem could ever imagine. No more bargaining and bribing Donald to massage me. All I do is pull that chair out and sit on it….then voila! It starts to give me the massage I so wanted and needed. So what I am waiting for? Blog and blog until I drop.
