Remember my maternity dress that I wanted to turn into Ella’s Sunday dress? I am not sure if I will have the courage to cut it.
Donald said sayang because I paid $25 for it but he said I can do what I want with it because it’s my dress. I am still thinking of the design.
So last Sunday, I found an Ukay-Ukay skirt for $1.5.
I wanted to make a dress for Ella so much because she has outgrown almost all of her dress. So I made her a simple Sunday dress out of it.
Well I didn’t make much changes. I just cut the sides to Ella’s measurement and sewn a zipper. It’s my first time to sew a zipper on and it took me almost forever to figure out how to hide it so it won’t be visible from the outside. I used an ordinary zipper, not the “magic” zipper. I have a magic one here but it’s blue. Then I put a bias-like fabric in the former waist and just sewn a strap. Earlier I tried it on to Ella without the straps yet, she said “Mommy, lagyan mo ng dalawang strips.” (Mommy, you put two strips.) I looked at her and she was pointing on her shoulders. Oh yes my daughter, I will put two straps, not strips.
I let her try it after I did the final stitching and she was twirling and beaming. She said I sew better than the seamstress in the neighborhood.
Talk about loving your own or she just wanted me to let her ride her bike.
Next Sunday I will be buying another skirt for sure.
