Uso-uso jeepneys in Davao

We just came home from my sister Crislyn’s place and glad the little guy has fallen asleep in the taxi. I was very careful not to wake him up while putting him down in his hammock so I can do a little blogging and blog hopping. It was already dark when we left here but it seems we were at my sister’s place for a long time. Donald and I were actually undecided if we should go out. Weather is not good and money is tight but he “ordered” for me to dress the kids at the last minute. We live up here in the mountain (well not really that remote as you think) and going downtown means spending a lot onĀ  taxi fare so we agreed to ride a jeepney. One time Eman and I went to deliver Ms. Alex Hao’s order of cloth diapers. I had the camera with me and while we were inside the taxi, I attempted to take a photo of the jeepney’s thinking I might use it in my blog someday. That afternoon, traffic is nearly bad near the Ateneo de Davao Highschool Campus and you can’t believe I never had one single photo of that thing. What I am trying to impose is that they are really FAST and FURIOUS!

Here is a jeepney…….

I don’t know whose picture is this, if you own this please leave a comment so I can give credits. Anyhoo, this is the original jeepney. A decent one I must say. The “uso-uso” jeepneys are customized jeepneys. It does look like the one above minus the horses, colorful buntings and the intricate design. I will try to take a photo of that stupid thing so I can show you.

That same day, I decided we will ride a jeepney home to save money. Since Cheche was with us, I never hesitated to give it a try to ride the so called “uso-uso” jeepney. Since then I promised to myself I will not be going out if I do not have enough money to pay a taxi. I actually don’t mind riding a public utility vehicle but it is very difficult to do that when you have a baby and a super sleepy head 6 year old. Ella just loves to sleep during our trip downtown and it is not that easy to have them both on our laps and you cannot let me pay for Ella’s seat. I don’t know why I feel it is wiser to choose the more expensive means of transportation to get us to where we wanted because in my opinion we would die early if we keep on riding those overspeeding jeepneys that are plying city highways such as Calinan and Toril. Mayor Duterte declared war against the drivers of such public vehicles after a vehicular accident that involved an “uso-uso” jeep and an Isuzu forward killing 4 on the spot and hurting 12 others. If you are clueless what is the reason of the disgust of the Mayor, it’s because these drivers of such vehicles play very loud music thus resulting to accidents. Why the accident? They cannot hear if there is another vehicle approaching from behind and are very wreckless drivers. I can attest to that when we rode a jeep that night. I was holding my breath and hoping we all could get off alive. Well in fairness, the driver didn’t play loud music but he drove as if he’s in a race track trying to bag the trophy. My intention was to save money that night but then I realized it is wiser to be safe. For those who are into equestrian, please check out the site that offers the best equestrian apparel. I think this is such a long shot. Better get going. Bye!
