Christmas carols

Sixteen years ago, I go out with my three friends (they are siblings) during evenings to go caroling around the neighborhood. I have no problem with Daddy because they are his kumpare’s kids. Bona wrote a story last year on her friendster blog. You can check it if you like. Until now I smile each time I reminisce those wonderful memories. Now it’s Ella’s time to experience the joy of spending time with friends singing Christmas carols in exchange for some spare change.

It’s a lot different now because kids will split their group in two so they can get more change. Smart kids! LOL During my time, we spend long hours preparing our props and we are in about 5 in the group singing three to four songs per household. For nights now I see kids coming alone. And kids do come in two’s also but they are singing a song together in two different households. One is in front of the house while the other one is at the neighbor’s gate. It is just so sad that the way we do it during my time is not observed now and I was telling Ella about how we did it before. She is amused and thought it was fantastic. There even was one group of adults who came….the woman told me they are raising funds for a feeding program and are here to do caroling BUT said their guitar string has never made this far. FEEDING what?????  I gave them P10.00 anyway just so they will leave. I don’t want to argue that time because I was busy sewing. But if only I have time I’d like to give them a piece of my mind. Fund raising should never be like that. Why don’t they give us something that will be worth of our donation. They can do acapella or just go home and bring some spare strings next time. They are not worth of my P10.00 and I regret giving them my hard earned money. I should have given it to Ella’s group who sang their very own version of Christmas songs (that I had no idea where they got the lyrics) because they gave their best to entertain me and I was. Really!

It’s getting late again. I still need to do some little research about getting an online backup for our pictures because I can’t afford to loose them.

Sounds like fun! I’ve never been caroling door to door, but when I was a kid we went caroling at a retirement center.
