My brief acquaintance with Mr. Cobra

I have not accomplished anything worthwhile today. I have some orders for cloth diapers and will be working on baby sling for Mitch but Cheche was not yet here. She stayed for a couple of days at my sister Crislyn’s place to help her with chores and going to the market. Even when she’s not yet here, I tried getting myself infront of my sewing machine yesterday only to get a big scare from a snake. I received a message from Ms. Alex about her order and I was also determined to make myself a baby sling so I started working on it as soon as Eman was settled in his hammock for his morning nap. I don’t usually leave the front door open when I am sewing because I don’t want people to see me working but yesterday I left it wide open. I did that for ventilation since I did not open the back door and windows thinking it will just be a quick sewing. My sewing machine is on top of a table just 3 ft. away from the door. I was facing the windows (the door is on my right) and thank goodness an angel whispered to me to glance at the door because if not, the cobra could have entered the house without my knowledge and could have bitten me. Yaiks!!!!
When I turned around it was making its way inside the house to where I was and the moment I recognized it was a snake, (I blinked twice to make sure that I am seeing a snake) I stopped breathing. LOL We were both stunned and my initial reaction was to climb up the bench. He could have been more scared than I because he retreated and quickly got lost when I lifted my foot from the pedal. I wasn’t able to scream and I don’t think it is the right way to deal with it. I have fought with a cobra much larger than yesterday and won the duel but that was many years ago and I was armed with a stick and a “bolo”. Yesterday was a lot more different because I don’t have anything but scissors and needles. What am I going to do? Poke him with needles and cut him into pieces????
When Manang Inday heard me calling Donald, she thinks she heard me say there’s a snake but I sounded so calm and collected so she thought she thought her hearing is failing. Donald came to check on me but the snake was gone. I think that cobra will really run for his life if he sees Donald’s carrying that rusty “bolo” because he won’t die of cuts but of tetanus. hahahahahaha!
I don’t know why until now I can’t believe I saw a snake entering a house! I have seen a lot of it in my hometown. In the farms, in the woods, the gardens….I don’t usually make a big deal out of a snake but this one changed everything. It really gives me a shiver thinking that we could find a snake under the bed or curled in the box. Waaaah!!!! To think it’s a cobra makes it even worst!
As I was finishing this, Cheche arrived. Thank God I can work on my cloth diapers tonight. Here’s me dreaming to have this little business be a success so we could have some extra moolah for some wants…..like orlando vacations. Wish me luck!

Yikes is right! That would be terrifying!!!
My Mom was born in India and lived there until she was 12 years old. She’s told me stories about things like snakes and monkeys getting into the house (and one time a panther, or some big cat, came and killed their dog on their front porch)… It’s always made me glad that we don’t have those issues in this area! … Of course, there is the cougar, but that cat seems more afraid of people that we are of her… And the only snakes around are little garden snakes, that don’t get more than a foot or so long, at the most. (Maybe 2 decimeters, if I am remembering the term right. *lol* I don’t know much about the metric system.)
