Seeing one of the two pediatric urologist in Davao
Posted on 2009 under Ella, Eman, treasured moments |9 Sep
We just came back from Manang Inday’s place after spending the night there. It was unplanned and only Eman has a spare clothes.
Ella and I wore Dimple’s clothes (Manang Inday’s daughter) and Donald wore Manong Joey’s.
We went to see Dr. Latayan yesterday for a second opinion regarding Dr. Lobo’s order for VCUG. Since Eman’s urologist don’t agree with the idea of doing it this soon and I am not comfortable with him performing the procedure, I searched for a pediatric urologist in the internet and glad I found one. There are actually only two pediatric urologists here in the city and I could say it’s a rare find.
The former is not pediatric urologist and has fewer training with handling babies. So when he told us that as much as possible he is avoiding to perform the VCUG because he hates to do it
I told myself I should definitely find another doctor. After seeing Dr. Latayan, I felt relieved knowing that we found a better one.
We discussed about the history and he concluded that we will wait for 3 to 6 months before we do the test because the infection could have been addressed by the circumcision. When we discussed further about the pattern of urine discharge, he quickly said it’s good that I brought it up since it is a sign that we need to do it as soon as possible. He said Eman might have a vesico-ureteral reflux (VU reflux) which Dr. Lobo is suspecting or there could be a valve that blocks the urine from completely emptying from the bladder.
Donald and I are both out of our minds when we left the clinic because we do not have money for the procedure yet.
That same afternoon, we went with Manang Inday, her PIL’s Mamang Emy and Papang Amboy, SIL Manang Ann and her daughter Janine. Donald and Ella went with Manang Ann and Janine at SM. Donald was asked to help her buy a laptop while Eman and I went with the rest of the group to Papang’s cardiologist. We all met up at SM and headed to Manang Inday’s place after we had dinner. Donald stayed up until in the wee hour of the morning installing the OS and I had no idea if he ever did sleep.
When we arrived here in my sister’s apartment, she and Cheche are beaming to see the little boy. We bathed him and I carefully attached the urine collector to get urine sample for the urinalysis. We are now waiting for the result after Donald brought it in the laboratory. Crossing my fingers that it is free of bacteria.

I just can’t get over everything that poor little Eman is going through.
… I hope it’s over, and SOON!
