Yes she made it in the SPED class and we are so thankful and proud. Congratulations to Ella for passing the test!
I am actually hesitant to let her take the test today because I wanted to have this day as our rigid review, but Donald wanted to let her take the test instead of waiting until tomorrow so I nervously accompanied her to school. I am wishing she could be one of the top 30 students who will consist of the SPED class but when she was undergoing the oral examination and interview (that was after taking the written test) this morning, I already convinced myself to enroll her to the regular class. I thought she won’t make it after seeing the test papers and hearing the questions during the oral exam. If I were her age, I could have fainted right then and there. She was asked to read aloud one short story to test her reading ability and comprehension. It’s about a girl and her pet hen which lays eggs. I sat on the corner feeling so nervous yet Ella was there beaming as she answered each of the teacher’s question.
In the afternoon I went back there to ask for the result and I still could not believe when I was told that the tutor recommended Ella to be in the SPED class and after assessing the tests results, she passed. I had a brief conversation with the head teacher (I think he is a gay but he is nice) and he said it is not just about the child’s brain but the parent’s pocket. He wanted to know if we are willing to spend for books and projects and I said we will try our best to provide for whatever Ella needs in school. I understand his point because he said there are parents in the past that are endlessly complaining about that matter and they do not want to deal with that anymore. To me, we are very lucky that Ella will be in that class because it’s a lot different than the regular class. And also we are lucky that the public school here has this program so there is no need for us to enroll Ella to private school and pay expensive tuition fess to have good quality of education.
So she is really having a birthday party since she passed the test. I guess she deserves it more than ever as she really tried her best to pass that nerve-wrecking test. She also deserves it for being such a good big sister.
She made sure her little brother’s cloth diapers are all safe from getting soaked in the rain. This is what she looked right when she entered the house after gathering all of them herself from the clothesline.
This girl truly deserved a happy birthday. We welcome donations in cash or in kind.
