….we tied the knot at Uyanguren Church of Christ, Davao City. Like all couples, it was one of the most momentous event in our lives.
It was just a simple wedding witnessed by our family and few friends yet it was a very memorable event for us more especially for me (I presume). First, because my mother was able to walk me down the aisle with Daddy and that was the last family picture we have before she passed away. Then, Bro. Dale Sellers (whom we fondly call “father”) was also there to stand as one of the principal sponsors together with his dear wife Prissy. His presence together with his family made our wedding very special because they left for the States for good shortly after 13 years of missionary works here in the Philippines. Like my mother, he went home to the Lord more than a year ago. It was also the last time that I had a photo with my best friend, Stephanie, with sparkles in her eyes. More than a year after, she met an accident and lost her sight. My awesome relatives from my father’s side who lives in Pagadian City and Iligan City were able to make it, and my relatives in my mom’s side gave all out support which we are forever thankful for. But the most unforgettable thing that happened that day was I mistakenly called one of my cousin’s husband the name of her ex who fathered her firstborn. A big fight between the couple followed right after they left.
To this day I still feel guilty about it and hope they already forgive me for being such a moron.
So to celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary, we started our day without getting in the shower.
Well, Donald did since he slept earlier last night and was able to get up early and had enough time to shower and prepare for the worship. Ella and I just freshened up since there were a couple of members who are already in the chapel and it is too embarrassing to pass by the side going to the bathroom at the back. We managed to freshen up and get dressed before the kids came and started our class. Since it is our anniversary, we decided that we should at least get a cake. We are lucky that one member knew someone who makes decent cakes so we ordered the biggest choco moist cake for P400.00. Donald asked the woman to put a text “Happy 6th Anniversary” on it but she cannot guarantee that because her husband (who I presume was the one doing the decorations) was on a cock fight.
It is fine anyway even without the text, all we care is that we have a cake.
It was not bad at all because it does taste like a real choco moist.
Ella couldn’t wait to have a slice and started sticking her finger on the frosting. I prepared Lomi that went fine with Coke and the cake and that was how we celebrated this very special day. If only I could afford Victorinox Swiss Army watches, I’d surprise him with that. But for now, we are good with a cake.
And oh by the way, you might think I am stinking until now ….I did shower after dinner.
