Spic and span

So everywhere I look, I see none of the old clutter. At least from where I am sitting right now. :-) Never mind about the two small rooms where Ella’s toys and more of our stuffs are. I already did some cleaning there but still needs more work which will follow in the next few days. Ella and I cleared her desk and bookshelf last night then I put away all of the trashes that were kept in her drawers. She’s such a keeper like me. Keeping every bit of paper that she has doodled on and just anything she wanted to keep. Can’t blame her for that because she sees me keep all her drawing and art works in an envelope. Even her hair was hidden in one of my boxes. That’s the first time her hair was cut 2 inches shorter after she decided it’s time to give herself a haircut. I have to trick her just so it won’t be obvious that I am dumping half of her treasures in the bin. I don’t feel bad at all because most of those are just plain papers that she has cut or pictures drawn by other kids. Read the rest of this entry »

We are going global

Yes! Guess what’s new with this sleepy little town?

Photobucket

So now we have it here! :-) I know, I know the title is pretty much exaggerated. It’s just that I am too overwhelmed with this little improvement here in town. We didn’t know about it until we went to Central Warehouse to get some groceries. I was telling Donald since Monday that we really needed to go there because Ella’s goody cabinet and the fridge are bare. We will be the host of the bible study tomorrow afternoon and we have to prepare snacks for the members and since we won’t be having enough time tomorrow to run to the grocery store, we went there after we fetched Ella at school. We are both wanting to nap in the morning but I am glad we are not defeated by our sleepiness. We have been working on his blog for “light years” now and I have come to realize the importance of buying a laptop. We can both work at the same time which is nice and we stayed up until 3am just tweaking his theme yet we are not yet there….still needing lots of work and tons of patience. :-S

Go green

For some reasons, I love seeing greens around me. Some have concrete spaces around their house so there would be no hassle in maintaining it but I wanted mine to be green and wouldn’t mind tending it from time to time. But hey, for busy buddies out there who don’t have the time to do all the keeping of the lawn but wanted to have greens around, there is synthetic putting greens company that could help you. They offer commercial landscaping and also install playground turf which is more expensive than the real grass yet you could save a lot of money and energy from maintenance. No more watering, no more mowing!

Funny Ella

Ella: Mommy, ang tawag ko sa iyo minsan INAY. Minsan naman Mommy. (Mommy, I will sometimes call you Mother and sometimes Mommy.)

Me: Talaga? (Really?)

Ella: Kay Daddy naman Itay. (For Daddy, it will be father.)

I was smiling because of the thought of being called Inay and Itay. It sounds like she was born before the World War 2. It was formal and to me more endearing but the smile turned into laughter when she continued:

Ella: Si ading naman, tawag ko sa kanya TOL. (For my little brother, I will call him TOL) (TOL - a short term for UTOL which is a Tagalog street language meaning BRO/BROTHER)

Care for snow?

Time flies so fast and before we know it, it’s winter again. For some, this is the most awaited season when they could play in the snow and have a white Christmas. But for someone who couldn’t stand the cold like me due to my hip and back which gives me so much pain, I don’t care about snows and white Christmas unless I spend the entire winter inside the home with the heater on and layers and layers of clothes. After spring cleaning, better check on your heaters and see if you need some heating repair done before the cold season and get everything ready especially when you live in a remote area.

Beware: Post full of rants

Today is the first set of 3rd Grading Examination and Ella said she’s ready. They had Mathematics and they are into addition. I am not so worried anymore about her score maybe because I have already convinced not to expect too much from her. After all the school isn’t that good at all and we might enrol her in Kinder 2 again next school year. It will all depends on the assessment of the school in my hometown if Ella could be in the 1st grade. The standard there is pretty much higher than here. I haven’t gotten over with my great regret about choosing that school because it is just a waste of time and money. There are only three private school here in town and we chose Life and Light Learning Center because we heard good feedback from parents. The one that I also like is far from here. It’s near the market and the school area is so small. If only I haven’t been too picky about the accessibility and the small space of that school, Ella could have had better education there. But since I wasn’t the only one who decided that we choose the school where Ella was now so I am not feeling too much guilt. Only half because he shares it with me. Read the rest of this entry »

David Christensen father and cpa

I am not into numbers and figures. I would faint at the slightest idea of me getting a degree in accountancy or anything related to math but as I mature, I realized it is something that is very challenging yet vital. With our day to day living, we need to solve simple math problems. When paying for a ride, buying a can of milk or just counting how many hours until the opps that I have grabbed will expire. So now, I am wishing Ella would develop the passion in numbers but she already clearly stated just last week that she wanted to be a doctor because she wanted to be the one who will “doctor” daddy and mommy for just a minimal fee. So, parents are not free….just given a discount. :-) At least that was such a relief because she’s been telling us before that she wanted to be a cashier at the mall when she grow up! Read the rest of this entry »

Back to Tulip Season

I”m back with my old theme. :-) I thought I could at least stay with this Growly theme for a day or two.

Photobucket

But after just a few hours that it’s being up, I decided to change it to my Tulip Season theme. The brown one looks very much appealing to me yet I have some issues with it. After changing the font size and the font itself, I am disappointed with the sidebar. The rightmost one couldn’t be changed and I couldn’t sleep thinking that my cbox, e-referrer, live feed and others were gone. :-( So for now am back with this old one….I love it though only that I wanted something brown, something not too feminine.

Real estate

Since last summer, Mama Ingrid has been looking forward for spring so she could sell her house. She wanted to find a smaller one near her work because it’s a 2 hour drive from home and with the nature of her job, she gets home very late at night and would leave for work just after a 3 hour sleep in the couch that caused her to hurt her hips. A 4 bedroom house is too big for herself that causes her to miss her husband who passed away last February. Once she showed me a photo of a house that she wanted to buy but she said she have to wait until Spring so she could straighten her house and clean the pool so it will be nicer and more appealing to the buyers. As a manager/supervisor of Tekelec (one of the telecommunication company in North Carolina), she doesn’t have the luxury of time to do the selling and the buying. Read the rest of this entry »

Cares Chorus

Photobucket

Aside from the arts and crafts, she loves music too. I love to hear her sing and since I am the Momma, I am proud that she could hit the notes almost accurately. Of course a 5-year-old is a 5-year-old unless she’s a gifted music artist. :-) But my Ella isn’t. She’s just an ordinary little girl that loves music and loves instruments and I don’t know how come her tiny ears could very well hear the notes yet sometimes she could be like a deaf-mute when we are calling her home when she’s out playing.
