Ella’s ordeal

It will be one week since we went to Bukidnon for the supposed to be a happy family reunion ( more updates on my later posts) ;-) and yet I have not written a decent post about it. Maybe because I was so tired and it was an ordeal for me and for Ella and Donald as well. The trip going there itself was so long that I have said I would never ever go back there anytime soon. We left home last Friday at 8:30am just in time to catch the 9am King Long bus but it didn’t arrive until 10am. :-( There are several non-airconditioned bus that went ahead but it would be so hard for me to get settled in their very uncomfortable seat. We were looking forward to a very long trip so we need to be comfortable especially me because my bump is getting bigger.

After two hours we arrived at Butuan City where we took another bus going to Cagayan de Oro City. Before we boarded the second bus, we had a very unsatisfying meal at one of the eateries at the terminal. We got no choice but to dine in the nearest place where the boarding station was located. At 2pm we left Butuan City and boy was it such a long trip. I feel like its longer that usual because it’s my first time to take that route. I am just glad that we all took Dizzy Tab so there was no complains from Ella. Donald and I took a couple of tablets too before leaving home just in case we will feel sick and it was effective because we slept most of the trip and neer got a chance to appreciate the sceneries that we passed by. Donald woke me up to show the breathtaking view of the beach from the hill and I quickly aimed the camera. I was thankful that the bus has stopped to pick up the bus inspector so I could get a better shot but I was wrong. When I pressed the button, the door of the bus slid open and what I got was a door with the beach on the background :-( (we were seated in the front row)

Anyway I am glad to finally see Nasipit, Guingoog and Balingoan where the port going to the island of Camiguin was located. Ella behaved well with Teddy on her arms, asking from time to time if we are almost there. We got off the bus at Puerto, Cagayan de Oro to take another one more bus up to Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon. It was already dark when we finally hopped in a non-airconditioned bus and since it will be only 30 minutes or so to get to our destination, we didn’t waited for an aircon bus. The bus was packed and we just stood between the driver’s seat and the the bus door. I let Ella sat on her travelling bag while I was holding at the back of the driver’s seat and Donald trying to balance with a heavy bagpack on his back near the door. Someone offered me his seat but I just thanked him and said I will just stay there. I don’t think I can squeeze myself and my bump among the passengers standing in the alley to get to his seat at the back. :-( It should be just a short ride but since it’s Friday, everyone is going home, with no bus stop (in provinces, bus stops are not popular) I guess the driver has hit the brakes every half mile. After the “long short ride”, we finally get off the bus and Ella was mesmerized at the nativity scene that the locals have set up beside the road. I took some snaps while Donald negotiated with the driver who will take us to my FIL’s farm.

We are in almost total darkness while we trekked the unpaved road in a motorcycle. Ella was thrilled with the ride but when we get to the farm, he started whining and ranting while we walk to the farm house which is in the end portion of the small farm. She was really ticked with the grasses that are left to grow tall and the muddy path. The carabao grasses are just halfway to her knees but it bothered her so much. She’s actually wearing her rain boots but she just felt like the hardest ordeal for her was to walk to the farm house with her short legs passing all the wet grasses along the muddy and slippery path.

Sounds like a LONG trip! … I wonder how long it would take in a car? … If you could go straight, with no stops and not on a bus.

Really a long trip :-( I guess if we have our own car, it would just take us 5 hours from here to the farm. We have spent almost 8 hours on the road and 3 hours waiting for the next bus. :-(
