my life, my family, my dreams, my hopes and fantasies

Some good things to share

Today’s weather was better with a little sunshine. Since Ella was absent from her class yesterday, she was early today just to find out there was no class since yesterday. The “scholars” had their two-day singing practice for the Thanksgiving Program this Sunday. Donald was a little bit disappointed because the school has been slacking in academics and focuses more on extra-curricular and on impressing the sponsors abroad. I thought the other kids are practicing Christmas songs for the party which Ella said, “Sabi ni teacher, pag mayaman ka..pwede ka sumali sa kanta.” (Teacher said if you are rich, you can join singing.) Sometimes kids can be bad messengers. To my understanding, the kids that are obliged to perform are the kids who are are beneficiaries of the scholarship program of the school in partnership of their church sponsors abroad. Ella attends Life and Light Learning Center operated by the Free Methodist Church which is a good school before they had this scholarship program. This was according to parents and former students of the said school which is why we enrolled Ella there. But like I said before, Donald and I are very disappointed with the quality of education that they are offering right now.

I am not saying that they must not accommodate children who cannot pay school fees but my big concern is that before they should have planned well how to balance everything. They should have added teacher or they should have limited the numbers of students per class but I guess they are after the money from the sponsors. I could say they are behind in their lessons or maybe Ella’s old school in Davao is far more advance. Add to my frustrations is the books which even I could get confused! So when we went to Davao last month, we purchased 5 workbooks for Ella to work on. I hope this could help her pass the entrance examination for Grade 1.

Anyway, so much of venting and ranting and let’s talk about the good things. :-) One is the weather that seems to get better. So the weatherman is wrong. :-( Then one thing that I am happy about is that I could withdraw funds from my paypal account again! Yay! I don’t know why but last August I transferred funds from my paypal to my bank account. If you have paypal account you are familiar with this. There are two choices, to withdraw funds to your bank account or withdraw funds to your card. I clicked the top one but it asks for a bank code. Thinking I clicked the wrong one, I cancelled it and clicked on the bottom one which would transfer my funds to my card. After 3 days which is the usual number of days for the funds to appear on my bank account, there was none in it. I waited another 2 days and still none. I asked my sister Crislyn about it and she said I did the wrong thing. :-( So I said to myself that’s what life is about. Learning from mistakes so I tried to forget about it and when I finally get over it, my money arrived after 10 days!!!! So my money could have roamed around the world before reaching Philippines. So for the past months, I always send my meager earnings to my sister’s paypal account and withdraws it from her bank account. Last day, as I was trying to find out how to fix the problem, I logged in my paypal account and after several attempts I nearly gave up. Then I tried searching the internet for the bank code and viola! I found it and it worked!!!!

But there’s a saying that after laughter, tears will follow. :-( I was still over the moon when I logged in to my bank account and found the notice that I only have 4 days to change my Transaction Password. Well, that notice was there months ago and like a Christmas countdown, it’s now down to 4 days to go before I don’t know what could happen. So I tried changing the password and I always receive the same prompt that my transaction password is invalid. I tried following the tips on how to choose a password but still the same. I could not remember my previous transaction password!!!! So I searched the internet again and I found a post in a blog about the same problem. After reading his post, I did the same thing…email the bank and wait. I hope they could resolve this problem because I am expecting my moolah to get in my bank account in a few days because if not, we won’t be able to pay bills. You know how Smart Bro could be so demanding yet always fails to satisfy me. I could not afford to loose internet connection especially now that we are planning to put up an online store. Ate Edith, the mom of our boss in OHJ, will supply me with imported goods which I was excited about. I will also encourage my sister to try this venture too as we are both not working in OHJ on regular basis and totally relying on our blog earnings. We will start small and hope it will grow like the businesses that offers retail franchises. Wish us luck!

You have entrance examinations for first grade? I don’t think our public schools do that… But then, since we homeschool, I can’t be 100% sure.

We usually don’t have entrance examination for public schools but since I would like her to be in SPED (Special Education Class), she needs to pass the entrance exam first which I am nervous about if she can make it or not. :-(
