Interpreter

Last night, when I turned over my throne computer chair to Donald, he said “Sikat lagi ka sa blog ni ate By?” (You are famous in Ate’s blog.) He asked me if I have read my sister Crislyn’s latest entry and I said not yet. Of course I was grinning from ear to ear like a goat because I did not know she sees me as a “reader” more than she. This post was inspired by her blog about my habit.

I remember when I was 6 I’d rent comics at the sari-sari store in the neighborhood. I’d follow the lines with my eyes and move my lips. This was all a pretense.

When I finally learned to read, I was crazy over children’s books at school library mainly because I like the pictures. These are books donated from the US and I feel like I am a part of the story. I then learned about the stuff that we don’t have here like trailers and campings; Thanksgivings and turkeys; Halloweens, pumpkins and trick or treats, the 4th of July….then I got to know about the farms, barns and that people there wear shoes and nice clothes at home! Poor Teddy

For more than a week now we have plenty of rain around here and since it would be sunny after the rain or the other way around, people are getting sick. Poor Teddy Bear, he has come down with flu and Ella won’t bring her to the doctor….she said to the other bear (Teddy’s brother), “Alagaan natin siya. Huwag na tayong pumunta sa doctor kasi sayang lang ang pera. Pagpahingahin na lang natin siya dito sa bahay….” (Let’s take care of him. We won’t be going to the doctor because we will just be wasting our money. We will just let him rest here at home.) I do not know where does she got that idea of wasting money when going to the doctor because I can’t remember that we have said that to her. Maybe too much watching tv? But I can’t say she has poor mothering ability by that statement because you could laugh at how she takes care of Teddy. She wraps him with blankets at night and she puts on bonnet, sweater and pyjamas so he won’t get cold. :-) How I wish Teddy will get well soon because I am hearing her drama for days now. Our drama queen has her script written somewhere in her brain. Read the rest of this entry »

One wet week

At last my spirit was now awake and back from hybernation. I am actually not that unproductive as you think. ;-) I have accomplished a few things that I really wanted to do. Like arranging 4 photo albums of Ella and what else, eating fruits of course!

When we went to Davao three weeks ago, I am finally able to print 8 rolls of films and that kept me busy. Oh yes, FILMS which were snaps taken two to three years ago. I already had the six of them turned into negatives so the color won’t change and I am glad I did.

When Ella was born, my mother told me to take photos of her always because she have not done that to us, and this is one of her advices that I followed without question and complaints. :-) What I did was to buy films even when I am not sure if I could print it. Money was really tight and years passed before I was able to see the pictures. Donald and even my sisters and BIL are laughing at how we all looked and we missed Ella when she was still that age. How I wish I have printed it before my mother died. I am sure she’d be so proud of Ella… Read the rest of this entry »

A day with the animals

Last October 1 was Auntie Carmen’s (my sister Crislyn’s MIL) 57th birthday. We happen to be there again like the past 5 years or six maybe. The plan is to meet with Auntie Carmen and Uncle Tony for dinner at a buffet restaurant near the Mall so we (Donald, Ella, Crislyn and BIL) decided to kill the time during the day by going to the Crocodile Farm. We have been there before when Ella had their excursion trip two years ago. That time we just borrowed a camera from Donald’s cousin and I presume they have deleted the photos before we could upload it. So I asked my sister if she wanted to go there and she and BIL agreed since they have their SLR and they could very well use it there. ;-)

Fun at the beach

I am glad Donald got my sister Crislyn to do photo sharing of our Davao escapades this morning so I could blog about it now. ;-) It will be photo studded and a quite long post but I will try to make it as short as possible so I won’t bore you guys. I will try…but I cannot promise. Read the rest of this entry »

I am back!

It seems like light years that I have been away from my puter. I have been reading my favorite blogs from my sister’s pc when we were there but I was not able to comment. I feel very tired all the time when we were there (sighs) same as when we are here. But thank goodness my throwing up galore ended. I finally graduated from the dreaded first trimester.
