Teddy’s birthday

We’re back from Davao and all I want now is to have a whole body massage before going to bed. Wish Donald would hear me :-) We have not made it home yesterday and it was a blessing too that we did not so Ella can have more time with her tita’s, tito Ace, Lolo Tony and Lola Carmen. And I almost forgot about Puto, Maya and Kiaw-Kiaw whom Ella spoke about each day.

Hello Davao!

What a day! me and Ella left home for Davao past 9 in the morning. Last night she agreed on going with me, but when I called her to take a shower, she changed her mind. I need to give her a look just to follow me to the bathroom. She wanted to stay as she found out that the neighbors are washing clothes in the well and she wanted to do it too. She kept complaining on having to go with me. She always feel sick when we ride buses, even air conditioner won’t do any good and this makes her unhappy to go. While in the bus, I let her sleep and I was so pleased she did, only to wake up after 30 minutes and start complaining again. Read more… »

The mommy and baby pigs

I had a plan to go to Davao to get my eon card and packages for Ella in the city post but I had a bad feeling on leaving today so the trip to the city was postponed until tomorrow. I am bringing Ella along as Donald has Bible Study in the afternoon and her titas wants to see their niece. As we cannot go home for my mom’s death anniversary, might as well bring Ella along to see them. I really have to get my eon card because a friend of mine will help me sell in ebay. I need this for the ebay thing and I need to withdraw my first earnings from blogging too to pay for my computer.

Wrinkle cream

My mom’s death anniversary will be in three days. We cannot go home to visit her grave and to see Daddy and my sisters since we moved farther from there. It will cost us much for just bus and van fare from here to our hometown. That will be approximately seven hour trip. There are lots of things to take care of, the last computer payment will be due on Ella’s 5th birthday and we cannot keep up with all of these. So I decided not to go home. Although we will not be there, what matters most is we honor Mamang’s memories. I missed everything about her….but I know she is with the Lord. That comforts me so much. I don’t have a mother to buy wrinkle cream, make ups and little gifts.

Orovo detox

Just recently, my classmate since elementary until high school got married. He was a bully before but turned out to be a good friend. All of my classmates are worried about him, for one good reason is he has a rheumatic heart disease of which might cause his death plus he has grown sideways. I last saw him last year and he was like the size of an upright fridge and this is not good for his health. At times he cannot walk because of his arthritis too and he cannot bear his own weight. I was thinking about the whole class surprising him with a wedding gift of Orovo detox. He’d surely be suprised!

Little Miss Ella

Sunday has been great. We had a story about Jonah and the whale. Since I have kids in mixed ages, I had to make sure the 3-year-old understoods what I am trying to imply like the 4, 8 and 10 year-olds. The story should only take a few minutes but it took a little longer as I have to translate from English to Tagalog and Bisaya  Oh well, it’s good that I don’t have to do it in Ilocano and Ilonggo :-) But in case I need to do it with these 5 languages, I still could manage :-)

We have 5 baptisms again after the worship service. I think we needed baptistry here. That will be much easier for everyone as we have to drive a few minutes from the chapel to the river. After the baptism we again piled in Bro. Bernard’s car to the place of the new members. We passed by ricefields and Ella was really thrilled to see hundreds of ducks. It was so hot and I feel very exhausted and dizzy that is the reason I never had the mood to blog last night.

At night Ella had a chat with Tita Crislyn and Tita Cheche, you got to hear her talk! She was like an old woman who was reincarnated in Ella’s body. Although I am the mother and I hear her everyday talk like that, it still amazes me all the time. I don’t know what this child has eaten or drank…I hope I have a recorder to record all her statements. Can’t believe how this little girl talks as if she lived for hundred of years

I felt like dragging my feet all day. Still feeling not well yet I have to go to town to check on the school for Ella. The first one was near the market and I don’t like the location. A little school just behind the fish and meat stalls :-( I picked a few items in the grocery store on my way home and I could not understand the weather here. One hour it is grilling hot and the next there were black heavy clouds and very strong wind. When I arrived home, Ella and Donald was playing here in my pc. They love it when I leave the house. I told Donald about the school I went to, that I don’t like it. We went to the school nearest us to check what they offer. Ella rode her itsy bitsy bike, she is really very good at driving. I learned to ride a bike when I was 8 and so is her Daddy. But she did it when she was 4! Her bike’s seat was broken by the kids and Donald put wires to keep it in place but it hurts her behind. And so I said “If you’d be good, I will get you a new bike.” I was excited to see her reaction…instead of jumping in delight she said “I have this bike, this will be fine. We don’t have money to buy a new one.”

Can someone tell me what happened to our little girl? She seemed to grow one year in a day

One lazy Saturday

Another week has gone by…tomorrow will be Sunday again and Ella was so excited. She dug on her mini drawer to look for tomorrow’s outfit and when she was done she wiped her shoes and announced she will going to wear those and nothing else. Kids these days really knows what they want.

It was such a lazy Saturday. I felt so tired and sleepy the whole day. After a short nap, I cleaned the bathrooms while Donald prepared the chapel for the worship. Then I asked Donald to photocopy a picture from the story book. I will be teaching a lesson about Jonah. When Donald tried to copy on our 3 in 1 printer, it won’t copy! Since it’s getting dark, I started tracing the picture since the photocopying shops are closed. It took me so long to finish 12 pictures! I made Donald trace some for me and Ella helped too. We traced Jonah and the whale….but Ella’s drawing is more like a tadpole than a whale :-)

Computer rentals

When I was still in college, I had a chance to assist on a masteral thesis of one of the instructors of the College of Veterinary Medicine. I could say I almost did all the work. I picked up the box of chicks from the Agri-Vet Store, weighed each one and put wing bands on their tiny wings. Everyday I feed all 110 heads, clean their cages and the waterers and then refill it with clean water. I enjoyed getting their weights every week and seeing them turn from chicks to chicken. When the study ended on the 45th day, the dirty work is over and the paper work is yet to begin. At that time there’s no computer rental around town, good that one student has her own pc which she offered to use.

Longest prayer

Remember how Ella eagerly listens to Donald when he explained about baptism last Sunday? Well tonight right before dinner, Ella was shooting questions about the Creation one after another. So Donald had to answer them all before she complains that “Daddy doesn’t know everything about bible…” She started asking about God. She asked what’s the name of God….Donald said “God” Ella was stunned…”God what?…He has no family name?!!!” They had a quite long question and asnwer portion. Since we arrived here, Ella was the one who is praying before meals. And so tonight she said the longest prayer I have ever heard! She sounds so cute talking to God.

“Dear God thank you for the food we eat, thank you for the sun so bright. Thank you too Lord for the rain…plants are so happy to get a drink….thank you Lord for making us human, we are your favorite Lord that you made our mouth talk. Thank you Lord for our home, our life is a lot nicer here. Thank you too Lord that you made chicken, dogs, birds, cats and fish. Please help us Lord that we can have juice always……” Oh well I could not recall everything she said! Trust me, it’s toooooo long!

After dinner, she hurriedly went to shower and brush teeth. When she was dressed, she let me get her children’s bible on the shelf and waited for Donald to read to her. Her bible has illustrations. She listens attentively, this will be until midnight I guess…Donald has to read in English and translate in Tagalog plus the question interruptions on almost each sentence he reads! LOL

Glue it on baby….

Since we arrived here in the province Ella have seen things she never did see in the city. Like the bugs that keeps coming at night when the light was off; we have to attempt catching it a few times before dropping it on the chamber pot and the lizards that checks in our ceiling to wait for dinner. There was one night when a dragonfly was caught by two lizards…Ella was shouting and jumping in frenzy telling me to save the poor dragonfly. So I grabbed a hand towel and threw it up to the ceiling…the dragonfly fell and I scooped it to check. She has torn wing so I put it on the window so she could fly if she can (Ella told me it was a girl!).

Still disappointed to what she have seen, Ella was asking me that same night why the lizard don’t fell from the ceiling. I said it was how God made them…..hoping she won’t ask for a scientific explanation which I have yet to find in the internet in case she’d ask again.

Tonight, as Donald was off to dreamland, Ella was still trying to get my attention by asking questions out of nowhere….telling me stories about what she did at the neighbor’s house…this and that…I tried to look interested and keep switching my eyes from her and my pc. I told her to go to sleep since it’s almost 10pm, and she said: “Mommy, please lay beside me just for 2 days only…..” She might want to say 2 minutes? LOL So I crawled to bed and as I was stroking her hair, she screamed and jumped in fear. A lizard feel from the ceiling right to where she was! I tried to calm her down and she said : “Oh Mommy, the lizard has no more glue on his feet and hands….that’s why he fell…..” Now that answered her own question… LOL
